Scan your face for new mobile plans

The biometric system is rapidly gaining grounds everywhere and China, being one of the most technologically advanced countries of the world is always one step forward. In China, people willing to purchase new mobile plans will have to go through face recognition technology. The Chinese government made it mandatory for all and it came into effect from Sunday, December 1st. It was announced by the government a few months earlier, i.e. in September. A notice was issued by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to the country’s telecom operators. The notice asked the operators to protect the legitimate rights and interests of citizens in cyberspace. It further said that “artificial intelligence and other technical methods”. This step is a part of the Chinese government's strategy to limit people's ability to stay anonymous online. Although there is a panic among netizens over the thought of chances of their data being compromised. A lawsuit was also filed against eastern China's Hangzhou Safari Park by an associate law professor from the Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. This professor named Guo Bing sued the Park because it forced the seasonal ticket holders to go through the facial recognition lane instead of its previous policy of scanning fingerprints and the court will hear the case as well.
